I created this piece to explore fragmented focus of new motherhood. Each interruption was documented in real time. When I was called away from the work to care for my son I knotted the fiber I was weaving and left it to hang.
My workspace was primarily my kitchen table and the weaving was completed in small increments during my son’s fifth & sixth months of life. Before motherhood I preferred to work in long uninterrupted hours which are not currently available to me. This process has taught me to embrace steady progress over smaller periods of time.

Curiosity is an essential part of my creative process. I regularly undertake curiosity studies to try new techniques and mediums with a focus on exploration and not end product.
Testing my new home pottery studio with a series of botanical coasters & pendants.
Testing natural dye recipes including avocado and iron water on various fabric swatches.
Using a baby safe indigo substitute I tested a variety of dye methods in collaboration with my mother.
I created my first font digitizing letters from my 1956 Smith Corona typewriter.
After the birth of my son I hosted a read through of The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron.
